Like a few other artists of the Woodstock Festival Country Joe & The Fish have also appeard on the other major U.S. music festival of that time: The Monterey International Pop Festival in 1967. Since then they have released their most important albums, reformed their line-up and become severe critics of the raging war in Vietnam.

Country Joe & The Fish resumed the festival after the thunder storm on Sunday, August 17th. That must have been around 6.30 pm.

Details Edit

Though the band had some very talented artists the Woodstock performance fell a little flat. However, it is likely that the whole set hasn't turned up yet or (even worse) that some songs were not recorded. The songs which are represented in the setlist last only 19 minutes.

Among others they performed the classic "Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine", a song driven by eerie organ sound. "Love Machine" has a good guitar solo played by Barry Melton, accompanied by the always present organ.

The encore number "I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag" was introduced by the ""Fish" Cheer" but again spelled with the letters F-U-C-K like at Country Joe McDonald's solo performance. Every letter was shouted by another band member.

Miscellaneous Edit

For Country Joe McDonald this was already the second performance at the Woodstock Festival - he has played a short solo set on Saturday afternoon.

Country Joe & The Fish were a replacement for the band Jethro Tull who turned down the invitation[1].
