The first performance by Country Joe McDonald was a solo performance without his band The Fish (see also Country Joe & The Fish). He probably performed on Saturday at noon, 1 pm, though other sources (including himself![1][2]) claim that he performed right after Richie Havens on Friday. However, research with the help of photo and video evidence has shown that this may not be true[3][4][5].

Details
Edit
Country Joe played a simple but relaxed solo set for about half an hour.
The ""Fish" Cheer" was introduced with the letters F-U-C-K instead of F-I-S-H, followed by the satirical anti-Vietnam song "I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag". Inbetween the song Country Joe made the following rant: "Listen people, I don't know how you expect to ever stop the war if you can't sing any better than that, there's about 300,000 of you fuckers out there, I want you to start singing!"
Miscellaneous
Edit
Country Joe made some comments regarding the brown acid. According to various stage comments made during the festival the brown acid (LSD) was of inferior quality.
