This major two CD release from Columbia (Sony) contains what's already in the title: The essential of Miss Janis Joplin beginning with her time at Big Brother & The Holding Company until her last album Pearl (1971). There are also some live tracks thrown in, most noteworthy of course the two Woodstock cuts: "To Love Somebody" (track 14, CD 1) and "Kozmic Blues" (track 15, CD1).
