The Incredible String Band, who refused to play on Friday due the rain, performed on Staturday at about 6.00 pm. Though their gig didn't seem to last very long - after Santana and the Keef Hartley Band the audience was wating for some heavy Rock instead of psychedelic Folk-Rock.

[edit] Details

The Incredible String Band was quite an interesting band who played folk songs with psychedelic influences. Mike Heron's compositions were complex and needed attention. On Friday evening together with acts like Ravi Shankar this could have worked but not on Saturday afternoon when the party is about to begin.

On the other hand one has to admit that The Incredible String Band didn't really work out as a live band. Heron and Williamson played up to ten different instruments on their studio recordings but had to reduce to the important ones at live performances. That sort of narrowed their sound and mystic. Their entire set consisted of unreleased songs that would be released on future albums.

[edit] Availability

Only one minute of "When You Find Out Who You Are" can be found on Woodstock Diaries. Rhino released on the box set Woodstock: 40 Years On: Back to Yasgur's Farm the songs "When You Find Out Who You Are" and "The Letter" - the latter one heavily edited. The rest comes from film outtakes and black/white video.
